Travis County's Storm Water Management Program has announced the March 2025 schedule for a series of educational videos on environmental management. These videos are part of a public education initiative required by the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality.
The lineup includes several presentations by organizations such as the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and the Water Education Foundation. "Innovative Stormwater Runoff Practices" by the LCRA, and "Storm Water Management: Turning Runoff Into a Resource" by the Water Education Foundation will be shown. Another feature is "Pointless Pollution" from the LCRA, narrated by Walter Cronkite, which examines water pollution's impact on the nation's water resources.
"Austin Underground," produced by The City of Austin, takes viewers on a virtual tour of the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer, exploring environmental threats, hydrogeology, and species inhabiting the aquifer. Additionally, the video delves into geological aspects of how water travels to recharge zones.
Excal Visual's "IDDE, A Grate Concern" addresses the topic of illicit discharge, available in both English and Spanish. Brett Briant from LCRA presents "WaterSmart Videos," which focus on efficient water usage strategies and irrigation practices.
"Majestic Plastic Bag," a mockumentary by 'Heal the Bay' narrated by Jeremy Irons, follows a plastic bag's journey to the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch."
In a separate feature, "Texas, The State of Springs," presented by Texas Parks & Wildlife, covers the issues affecting natural springs and their conservation.
Special features such as "In Land We Trust" and "Policing Pollution" by Texas Parks and Wildlife, and additional videos by the LCRA like "Clean Water: It Starts With You" will also be shown. These videos emphasize the importance of preserving natural landscapes and minimizing pollution.
Broadcast timings for these educational videos vary, spanning different days in March. The initiative supports an ongoing effort to increase public awareness of environmental challenges and sustainability measures.
