Austin offers $21.63 hourly wage for lifeguards with free certification

The Aquatic Division of the Parks and Recreation Department is preparing for the upcoming swim season by offering lifeguard certification. The position offers a starting wage of $21.63 per hour, with no prior experience required. Individuals aged 15 and older are eligible to apply, and those hired will receive a free bus pass.

Applicants must complete the necessary job application and hiring paperwork before registering for training. The certification provided is through the StarGuard lifeguard program, known internationally for its curriculum that equips trainees to handle emergency situations effectively.

To facilitate the hiring process, open hours have been scheduled on March 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Aquatic Office located at 2818 San Gabriel St. During this time, applicants can fill out their applications while enjoying complimentary pizza. It is recommended to bring a photo ID and social security card to expedite the process.
