On March 12, 2025, at approximately 6:03 p.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a traffic incident on the 6800 block of E. US 290 Hwy EB. The crash involved two vehicles. The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
This incident marks Austin's 14th fatal crash in 2025, resulting in 14 fatalities. A year ago, on the same date, there were also 14 fatal crashes leading to 14 deaths. The investigation into this recent crash is ongoing, and initial assessments may change as more information becomes available.
