Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) reported a decline in passenger traffic for January 2025, with numbers showing a decrease of 5.38% compared to the same month last year. The airport saw 1,396,839 passengers during this period.
Enplanements for January 2025 totaled 682,885, marking a drop of 5.89%. Among airlines operating at AUS, Southwest Airlines recorded a passenger count of 564,699, down by 6.6%, while American Airlines had 262,780 passengers, experiencing a significant decrease of 27.3%. In contrast, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines showed growth with increases of 13.2% and 9.2%, respectively.
Other notable figures include Alaska Airlines with an increase of 4.9% in passengers and Frontier Airlines showing substantial growth at 457.5%. However, Spirit Airlines experienced a decline of 14.4%, and Allegiant Air saw a reduction of 26.6%.
In terms of international carriers, Aeromexico reported an impressive rise in passenger numbers by 63.8%, while British Airways also showed positive growth at 10.7%. On the other hand, JetBlue Airways faced a significant drop in passengers by 68.1%.
Air cargo activity at AUS totaled approximately 20 million pounds in January, reflecting a decrease of over twelve percent from the previous year’s figure for the same month. International air cargo also decreased by about six percent.
Specific carriers such as Air Transport International saw their cargo volumes fall by seven percent to approximately eight million pounds; Federal Express reported a more pronounced decline of over thirty percent; whereas Sun Country Airlines experienced an increase in cargo weight carried by sixteen percent.
General aviation operations increased by nearly ten percent totaling over three thousand operations for January.
