Austin police seek help identifying aggravated robbery suspect

The Austin Police Department (APD) Robbery Unit is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an aggravated robbery that occurred on May 20, 2024. The incident took place at approximately 4:55 a.m. in the 2600 block of North Lamar Boulevard in West Campus.

According to the APD, the suspect noticed the victim while driving and subsequently pulled to the curb a short distance away. The suspect then exited his vehicle, approached the victim on foot, and pointed a handgun at them. After demanding cash from the victim, the suspect intentionally groped them before fleeing in a black Nissan pickup truck.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, aged between 18-25 years old, with a thin build and approximately 6 feet tall. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a red hat, dark-colored shorts, and a white shirt. He was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

The vehicle involved is described as a black Nissan Frontier pickup truck with a traffic cone standing up in its bed.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
