Repairs to a leaking water main servicing Southwest Austin have entered their second day, according to Austin Water. Workers have faced challenges connecting the repaired section of pipe to existing infrastructure, resulting in delays and extended bottled water distribution.
Austin Water has reiterated its request for customers in Southwest Austin to conserve water and avoid non-essential usage. Residents are asked to postpone activities such as washing clothes and dishes, using irrigation systems, and washing cars until further notice. These conservation efforts have so far helped maintain adequate reservoir levels and stable system pressure.
Bottled water distribution will continue at Bowie High School, located at 4103 W. Slaughter Lane, starting at 9 a.m. Customers experiencing any service issues are advised to contact Austin Water’s Customer Service Contact Center at (512) 972-1000 and select Option 1.
Austin Water will provide updates once repairs are completed and normal water use can resume.
