The Travis County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the Travis County Constable Precinct 2, is organizing the 3rd Annual Central Texas Public Safety Cadet Competition. This event will be held on May 31 and is targeted at Public Safety Cadet and Explorer programs. The aim is to engage cadets and explorers with challenging scenarios based on Texas law enforcement training standards. The competition is expected to host approximately 200 attendees, with teams from across the state and possibly beyond.

Volunteers aged 18 and above are sought to assist in various roles, including team and volunteer check-in, scenario acting, and general event support. The event will take place at McNeil High School in Austin, Texas, from around 6 AM to 8 PM, with shifts assigned as needed.

Volunteers will receive community service hours, meals, refreshments, and a volunteer event t-shirt. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to contribute to their community and aid in the mentorship of future first responders.

The deadline for volunteer registration is April 24. Those interested in contributing to this event are encouraged to sign up via the provided volunteer registration link.

"This one-day competition event is designed to have challenging scenarios based on current Texas law enforcement standardized training which will test Cadets/Explorers' knowledge and skills," the announcement stated.

Organizers highlighted the benefits of volunteering, noting it as an excellent opportunity to "give back to your community, meet new people, and support law enforcement agencies mentoring the next generation of first responders."
