CapMetro is set to resume most of its regular fixed-route services, including Bus, Flyer and Express routes, CapMetro Access, MetroBike, and Pickup services on Friday, February 3. However, the CapMetro Rail will remain suspended as crews work to restore power to 16 grade crossings and seven signals while clearing debris along the 32-mile commuter rail line.
In response to the rail suspension, CapMetro will operate Route 454 bus for customers who typically rely on the rail service. This route serves Leander, Lakeline, Howard, and Downtown Stations and is used during scheduled commuter service suspensions.
Efforts are ongoing by CapMetro staff to clear debris from bus stops caused by ice accumulation. Some stops may remain closed until safety concerns are addressed. Customers using Park and Rides should be aware that some parking areas might be blocked due to fallen trees and debris.
CapMetro is collaborating with the City of Austin for emergency operations. Recently, the agency transported 230 people to cold weather shelters and provided over 60 trips to dialysis clinics through CapMetro Access on Thursday, February 2.
While running about 90% of regular service on Thursday, customers should anticipate delays due to detours from debris, signal outages, and other road conditions. The agency advises customers to use the Trip Planner for current information on route detours and stop closures. For further assistance or updates via MetroAlerts, customers can contact the Customer Service GO line at 512-474-1200.
