CapMetro is set to resume limited operations at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, with bus, pickup, and access services starting around 11 a.m. CapMetro Rail will not be in operation. The agency advises customers to remain at home if possible due to expected road impacts throughout the day. Service will end early at 9 p.m., and passengers are encouraged to complete their journeys by that time.
Most CapMetro Pickup zones will allow bookings from 10 a.m., though only essential trips are recommended. Manor Pickup, operated by CARTS, will not be available. To monitor infrastructure affected by inclement weather, CapMetro Rail and Rail Connector Routes 465 and 466 will not run on January 21. The Transit Store will also remain closed.
Services including UT Shuttles, Flyer, Express, Night Owls, and all Round Rock routes have been suspended for the day. CapMetro Bikeshare service ends Monday, January 20 at 10 p.m.; bikes can only be returned until service resumes Tuesday at 10 a.m.
For CapMetro Access customers, only medically essential trips will occur on January 21. Staff are contacting these customers about potential delays and rescheduling non-essential appointments.
"CapMetro operates with the safety of our customers and frontline staff being a top priority," the agency stated regarding its decision to delay operations for most services until later in the morning to assess road conditions.
In response to the ongoing inclement weather, CapMetro is working with the Austin/Travis County Emergency Operations Center to facilitate transportation to warming centers and shelters. "Anyone who is seeking transportation to a shelter who does not have the means to pay the fare will still be given a ride."
The public is asked for patience regarding any service delays during this period of adverse weather and encouraged to stay informed through CapMetro alerts.
