Jay Huffty has been appointed as the new Police Lieutenant for Manor Independent School District (ISD). With a career spanning nearly three decades in law enforcement and educational administration, Huffty is expected to bring a combination of skills to the district's safety and security team.
Huffty's career includes roles as a certified law enforcement officer, deputy sheriff, deputy constable, and police officer across various counties in Texas. He has gained extensive experience in criminal investigations, peacekeeping, and law enforcement operations.
His focus on school safety began early when he transitioned into educational administration. He held leadership positions such as Director of Safety and Security and Assistant Principal in several Texas school districts.
In his previous role as Director of Safety at Medina Valley ISD, Huffty managed a $7.5 million budget for security upgrades, coordinated emergency operations, and collaborated with local law enforcement to ensure student and staff safety.
"Jay Huffty’s wealth of experience in both law enforcement and education will strengthen our efforts to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for our students and staff,” said Manor ISD Police Chief Clarence Yarbrough. His ability to integrate safety protocols with educational objectives helps bridge communication gaps.
Apart from administrative roles, Huffty has worked as a teacher, special education behavior teacher, and assistant principal. As Police Lieutenant, he will lead the district's safety initiatives, support the police chief, collaborate with district administrators on emergency response protocols, manage emergency management procedures, and mentor Manor ISD’s School Resource Officers.
