The Austin Independent School District (Austin ISD) has announced its 2025 Campus Teachers of the Year and Teachers of Promise. Each year, staff at each campus vote for a colleague to be recognized as their Campus Teacher of the Year. To qualify, nominees must have at least three years of teaching experience within Austin ISD, be full-time teachers or interventionists, and demonstrate dedication to inspiring a love of learning and fostering collaborative relationships.
Campus Teachers of the Year are encouraged to apply for the District Teacher of the Year selection process. The district will announce its Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year during the Salute Awards event in May. These honorees will then be eligible for consideration in the Texas Teacher of the Year process.
Additionally, each campus leadership team nominates one Teacher of Promise to represent their school. This recognition is given to educators in their first year who are student-centered, enthusiastic, and actively contribute to improving their school's environment.
"Each year, our campus staff get together to vote for one of their teammates as their Campus Teacher of the Year," stated an official from Austin ISD. "Teachers of promise must exemplify our Austin ISD mission, vision, and values."
A comprehensive list follows with names such as Roland Hutson from Allison Elementary and Olivia Wiseman from Andrews Elementary being among those recognized this year.
During the Salute Awards event in May, all Teachers of Promise will also be acknowledged for their contributions.
