Austin Public Health is inviting applications for the Community Development Commission (CDC) from individuals interested in representing low-income individuals and families. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, reside within the designated geographic area, and have a commitment to serving those living in poverty.

As Austin's official Community Action Agency, Austin Public Health manages the Community Services Block Grant. The CDC plays an advisory role to the council on programs aimed at aiding low-income communities, focusing on federally funded initiatives.

The CDC consists of 15 members: seven nominated by a council committee or committees and appointed by the council, along with eight members selected to represent each of Travis County's geographic areas under the Community Services Block Grant.

Applications are open for representatives in North Austin, St. John, Colony Park, Rosewood-Zaragosa/Blackland, East Austin, Montopolis, South Austin, and Dove Springs. Interested parties can apply online through the Office of the City Clerk’s website.

Elections for CDC positions will occur on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025. Voting hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with polling locations set up across various community centers in each area listed above. Paper ballots will be provided featuring candidates' names for each region.
