Austin ISD's Board of Trustees has approved the academic calendars for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years. The decision was made during a regular voting meeting on December 19.
The calendars were developed by the Calendar Task Force, which consists of 30 members including campus staff, parents, central office departments, and district leadership. Five versions of each calendar were initially created. After review, two versions were approved by the Task Force and then presented to the District Advisory Council and school principals for feedback and voting. "Draft A" was selected as the final version for both school years.
The new calendars incorporate faith-based and cultural observances alongside staff development days. Notably, Spring Break will align with the University of Texas schedule in March's third week.
For the 2025-26 academic year, classes will begin on August 19 and end on May 28, 2026. The following year, classes will start on August 18 and conclude on May 27, 2027. Both years will have a total of 169 instructional days for students.
