The Austin Independent School District (ISD) community has shown strong support for local educators and students by approving Proposition A in the recent election. This decision reflects the community's commitment to investing in public school teachers, essential school employees, and the future of Austin's education system.
Austin voters have committed $41 million to enhance the district's educational framework. "That future is brighter today thanks to the strong support of Austin voters, whose votes reflect the value our community places on our neighborhood public schools," said Arati Singh, President of the Austin ISD Board of Trustees.
The approved funding will provide salary increases for 85% of district teachers and staff. Additionally, it will facilitate hiring for critical positions such as content interventionists and mental health professionals. It also aims to offer new instructional support for teachers.
"We are thankful to Austin voters who were willing to make this investment at such a critical moment for our district because they know that the future of Austin is in our public schools," stated Matias Segura, Superintendent of Austin ISD.
Further information regarding how this funding will impact schools and staff, along with steps addressing the district budget deficit, is expected to be provided by Austin ISD.
