Austin ISD has decided to transition to a new special education data management system, replacing the current Ed Plan for the 2025-26 school year. This change aims to ensure reliable and accessible data for students receiving special education or 504 services.

The new system is expected to streamline data input processes and enhance tracking and visibility for users. It will also help the district comply with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Order requirements.

Superintendent Segura emphasized that this decision was not made lightly, acknowledging the challenges it presents. "Please know that this decision wasn’t made lightly," said Superintendent Segura. "It is not lost on me that yet another transition for the special education data management software will be difficult news for our staff. I ask for your honest feedback, patience and mutual support along the way."

Despite efforts to improve the current system, it continues to pose challenges for district and campus staff supporting students with disabilities.

Staff involvement will be crucial during this transition. The district encourages participation in a survey by November 8 and attendance at listening sessions scheduled on October 30 and November 6.
