Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is preparing for an expected increase in passenger numbers due to upcoming events. On Sunday, October 20, the airport projects over 35,000 passengers, and on Monday, October 21, more than 44,000 passengers are anticipated to pass through TSA security. The University of Texas at Austin vs. University of Georgia football game and the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix race are major contributors to this surge.

Travelers during this period should take specific measures:

- Arrive early: Passengers are advised to arrive at least 2.5 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international flights but not more than four hours prior. Visit Austin provides a luggage storage service for those with time between hotel check-out and flight departure.

- Plan ahead: Consider travel time to the airport and allow extra time for activities like checking luggage or returning rental cars before reaching the terminal.

- Expect lines: Security checkpoints and airline ticket counters may experience longer wait times during peak periods.

Passengers can find more information and travel tips at FlyAustin.com.

Additionally, there will be a temporary change in media parking from midnight Sunday through midnight Tuesday. Media personnel should park on the Arrivals level by Pickup Area C instead of the Departures level. In case space is unavailable, they may use Red Garage Short-Term parking and validate their tickets as instructed.

AUS will provide updates on social media platforms. Passengers are encouraged to follow @AUStinAirport on X for real-time information.
