Austin ISD is offering students a unique opportunity through the P-TECH Cybersecurity Program at Northeast Early College High School. This initiative, launched in partnership with Austin Community College (ACC), allows students to take free college classes and earn an Associate Degree in Applied Science with a specialization in Cybersecurity while still in high school.

The program provides mentorship, workplace learning opportunities, and internship preparation. Students have access to modern facilities equipped with the latest technology, reflecting the innovation of today’s tech companies.

Cole Brown, a P-TECH teacher, emphasizes that "Cybersecurity might seem really intimidating, but it’s really not. It’s just so new. When people think about cybersecurity they might think that they have to be an expert coder or programmer. That is not true. You do not have to be proficient in a bunch of programming languages to work in the tech industry or to work in cybersecurity.”

Enrollment for Austin ISD opens on November 6. More information about this program and other district offerings can be found by visiting their website.
