Austin ISD is gearing up for an active fall season with its student-athletes making significant progress both in sports and the community. Athletics plays a crucial role in the holistic development of students within the district, and regular coverage of these activities will soon be available.

The upcoming UIL Cross Country District Meet will see high school athletes competing at Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park. The 6A teams are scheduled to race on October 9, while the 5A and 4A teams will compete on October 10. Additionally, Austin ISD will host its inaugural Middle School Cross Country District Meet on October 10, coinciding with the high school event. Boys' races begin at 6 p.m., followed by the girls' races.

Superintendent Matias Segura is noted as a former cross country runner, adding a personal connection to these events.

In collaboration with the Austin ISD Police Department and the Austin Police Department, the Athletics Department is organizing Blue Santa Week from October 7-11 to support the Operation Blue Santa Toy Drive. New, unwrapped toys for children aged 0-14 can be donated at Austin ISD's central football stadiums: House Park, Nelson Field, and Burger Stadium before or during games. Donors attending these games will receive a special ticket allowing their children to "Run the Field" before kickoff.

Further coverage of athletics events will continue throughout the season.
