The 30th Annual Lake Travis Cleanup is set to take place on Sunday, September 15th, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the aim of removing thousands of pounds of trash from Lake Travis and surrounding County Parks. The event, which focuses on maintaining clean drinking water and preserving local waterways, will involve hundreds of volunteers working across more than seven Travis County Parks, as well as dive sites and shoreline neighborhoods.
Community members interested in participating can register through the Lake Travis Cleanup Fall 2024 Colorado River Alliance GivePulse registration page. Dive volunteers are encouraged to contact local dive shops and groups directly for registration details. All volunteers will receive an event t-shirt and a Digital Program featuring coupons and discounts from local businesses. Additionally, participants can enter annual photo contests for prizes such as being recognized as the dirtiest volunteer or finding the most unusual item.
The Lake Travis Cleanup has grown significantly since its inception in 1994 when it began as an informal gathering of local dive shops. It is now managed by a partnership between the Colorado River Alliance and Travis County Parks, with support from local marinas, boat rental operations, and dive groups.
Legacy Leader Partners H-E-B & YETI have been acknowledged for their participation in this year's event. Sponsorship opportunities remain available for those interested in supporting the cleanup efforts.
