The Austin Area HIV Planning Council (HIVPC) is organizing a town hall meeting to gather community feedback and devise strategies to enhance access to resources for those impacted by HIV/AIDS.

“This town hall is an excellent opportunity to meet face-to-face and share your experiences and needs with city staff to help improve access to care,” said Laura G. La Fuente, Assistant Director of Health Equity and Community Engagement at Austin Public Health. “We encourage anyone who has been impacted by HIV/AIDS to attend the town hall and have their voice heard.”

The town hall meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the City of Austin Permitting and Development Center building (6310 Wilhelmina Delco Dr, RM 1406, Austin, TX 78752). The meeting can also be joined virtually.

Organizers aim to:

- Raise awareness about the unique challenges that communities face regarding HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, treatment, and care.

- Create a platform for people living with HIV to share their experiences and advocate for their needs.

- Develop strategies to improve access to healthcare, support services, and resources for communities most impacted by HIV/AIDS.
