The City of Austin has announced the launch of the Food and Climate Equity (FACE) Grants program. This initiative aims to support community-led projects addressing food justice, climate equity, and community resilience. Grants of up to $3,000 are available to local organizations working to eliminate systemic and structural inequities.

In 2023, the Offices of Sustainability and Resilience held separate mini-grant competitions, awarding a total of $150,000 to 51 unique projects. Building on this success and recognizing the interconnected nature of the topics the grant aims to support, the offices are collaborating in 2024 to expand grant opportunities and simplify the application process.

“By combining our grant programs, we’re hoping to create a more efficient process for those working on food and climate change solutions,” said Zach Baumer, the City of Austin’s Chief Sustainability Officer. “This program aligns with our city’s Climate Equity Plan and its strategy of prioritizing local community initiatives.”

The FACE Grants program supports a more just and resilient Austin by providing direct funding for projects that enable transformative change in food, climate, and resilience areas. The program aims to uplift those most impacted by systemic inequities, eliminate disparities in health outcomes, and improve quality of life for all.

Applications must be submitted by Thursday, July 18, 2024. Applicants will be notified of selection decisions by September 1, 2024. For more information and to apply, visit austintexas.gov/FACE.
