Pedestrian fatally struck by two vehicles on East US 290 Highway

On Saturday, May 25, at approximately 3:22 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian in the 9500 block of the East US 290 Highway Eastbound Service Road. The unidentified pedestrian was attempting to cross the service road when they were struck by both vehicles. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both drivers, operating a sedan and an SUV respectively, remained on scene. According to APD, neither driver was impaired or injured and both are cooperating with the investigation.

This incident marks Austin's 30th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 30 fatalities for the year. By comparison, on the same date in 2023, there had been 37 fatal crashes resulting in 37 fatalities.
