Austin Parks and Recreation invites the public to celebrate LGBTQIA+ Pride Month at DAC Nights on Wednesdays, June 5, June 12, and June 26 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dougherty Arts Center (DAC), located at 1110 Barton Springs Rd.

DAC Nights is a free, all-ages event series that typically occurs monthly, providing an opportunity for community engagement through the arts. Each month's event features a new artistic and cultural theme. This June, the focus is on LGBTQIA+ Pride.

On Wednesday, June 5, queer Texan poet Ariana Brown will perform her poetry exploring themes of queerness, Black personhood, and liberated futures. This event is open to participants aged 15 and up. Advance registration is required due to limited seating.

On Wednesday, June 12, Behind the Zines will conduct a workshop on creating zines—an art form with deep roots in Queer history and self-expression. Teaching artists will assist attendees in crafting their own zines.

On Wednesday, June 26, participants can explore “Craftivism” and sustainability with Dougherty Arts Center staff and guest instructor Cidnye Stott during DAC Nights: Mend Mania. The online publication them. describes needlepoint as "likely the campiest art form in human history," a sentiment echoed by DAC.
