Interim Austin police chief Henderson on late officer Pastore: 'Please help me and our APD family pay tribute to SPO Jorge Pastore for his brave & heroic actions'

Funeral plans for the late Austin police officer Jorge Pastore have been released, with Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services handling the arrangements. The 38-year-old Pastore was fatally shot while responding to a purported hostage situation in a south Austin neighborhood.

"My heart is heavy today," interim Austin Chief of Police Robin Henderson said in a Tweet. Please help me and our APD family pay tribute to SPO Jorge Pastore for his brave & heroic actions," Henderson Tweeted.", said Robin Henderson.

The obituary of Pastore, published by Weed Corley Fish, states that services will be held at Germania Insurance Amphitheater at 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd. in Austin on Nov. 17. His family will be accepting visitors from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the services scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon. It also mentions that police honors will be accorded for Pastore in the Circuit of the Americas parking lot afterwards.

Officer Down Memorial Page reports that Pastore, aged 38, was fatally shot during a hostage barricade at 9308 Bernoulli Drive around 4:10 a.m. on Nov.11 and the alleged shooter was later shot dead by his colleagues.

Pastore's obituary outlines his life journey as he was born in California and brought up in Florida where he developed an interest for martial arts as a teenager and eventually started his own school with his spouse before joining the force as a veteran firefighter and first responder.
Once recruited by APD, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of earning position on SWAT team. Amongst numerous accomplishments, serving in Honor Guard for both Seminole Tribe of Florida and APD were ones he took most pride in.
Pastore leaves behind his wife, three stepchildren, along with other beloved family members according to his obituary.
