City of Austin City Council met Aug. 8.

The City Council of Austin, Texas convened in a Work Session Meeting on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 301 W. 2nd Street, Austin, TX and via Videoconference.
Mayor Watson called the Council Meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. Council Member Ryan Alter attended remotely. Council Member Pool was absent.
COUNCIL DISCUSSION
1. Presentation and discussion of the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Proposed Budget. The presentation was made by Kerri Lang, Budget Officer.
Budget staff were asked to translate budget documents to Spanish language moving forward.
Direction was given to Austin Public Health to provide information on the number of staff that will be impacted for grant funding set to expire.
Parks and Recreation Department staff were asked to provide information on the number of City owned cemeteries and the number of interments conducted yearly.
Economic Development Department staff were asked to provide information of HOT funds dispersed to Cultural Arts and provide the differential funding amount received in Fiscal Year 2023 to Fiscal Year 2024.
Staff were directed to provide information and the number of vacancies in the management services group.
Mayor Watson adjourned the meeting at 1:48 p.m. without objection.
