On the evening of Thursday, May 9, 2024, Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to multiple calls of a shooting at the Canyon Ridge Apartments located at 12118 Walnut Creek Crossing. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim, later identified as Isaac Jimenez, on the second floor of building five. The 27-year-old Hispanic male was pronounced deceased at 8:31 p.m.

In addition to Jimenez, another male with a gunshot wound was found near building six and subsequently transported to a local hospital. A separate incident occurred at the Whataburger at 9516 North Lamar Boulevard where another male was shot and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists were called in to process the scene and interview witnesses. Preliminary investigations indicate that Jimenez was inside an apartment when he was shot during a disturbance. The detectives are still actively working on this case.

The APD is appealing to anyone with information about these incidents to come forward.
