University Federal Credit Union recently appointed Christy Soukhamneut as chief lending officer, according to a press release. Within this capacity, she will supervise the consumer lending division as well as offer guidance to the business banking/commercial lending unit.

Soukhamneut actively participates in numerous committees and industry boards while also holding a partnership with Blue Wolf Coaching and serving as a subject matter expert for Stratmor. She holds positions on the boards of Voxtur, Trained, Halcyon and the Beneath the Surface Foundation—an initiative established by special operations veterans aimed at addressing the mental health challenges resulting from combat experiences among military personnel, according to a press release.

“When I think of corporate character and being a champion of the things that have mattered to me most, UFCU checks all the boxes,” Soukhamneut said. “I want to help educate people about finances and help them build a strong financial foundation early in life. This entire organization is focused on winning as an institution and developing something that’s truly unique.”

Prior to her arrival at UFCU, Soukhamneut held roles as senior vice president and later managing director of the Texas Capital Bank, where she managed the mortgage finance division. Before that, she was responsible for leading high-performing sales teams at a medium-sized independent mortgage banking entity.

“UFCU has long been a leader in consumer lending for Central Texas through our mortgage and auto business,” said UFCU Executive Vice President of Member Experience Chris Turnley. “We are confident that with her diverse and depth of experience, Christy will be able to envision and innovate approaches and programs that will further increase access to capital for a greater number of people in our community.”
