A barbershop that has become a University of Texas institution in its own right will close this summer and enter an uncertain future, Austin NBC affiliate KXAN reported.

According to the station, Wooten Barbershop has provided affordable haircuts to UT students since 1964.

It'll all come to an end on June 15 when manager James Nelson closes the doors to the establishment, which is located on The Drag fronting the university, for the last time.

Like the UT Tower and Hook 'Em gesture, Wooten Barbershop is woven into the burnt orange fabric.

“We are a part of UT basically,” Nelson told KXAN. “So it’s a community, and we have clients that are second and third generation. It’s a part of you. It’s a part of you that probably will never be the same.”

KXAN reported that the beginning of the purported end for the business dates back to four years ago when student housing developer American Campus bought the block of properties that included the one that houses the revered barbershop.

The business itself was given notice this month to vacate by June 15, per the station.

Wooten Barbershop is determined to push forward after it says goodbye to The Drag in about two months.

According to KXAN, the business will update its website with information for its loyal clientele.

It's currently exploring its options as to how it could serve customers in its yet-to-be-determined future.
