CapMetro has announced a temporary closure of the MetroRail Red Line service from July 10 to July 18. The suspension is due to necessary maintenance aimed at enhancing safety, reliability, and infrastructure. During this period, MetroRail services will be unavailable except for a special event service on July 13 for the Austin FC match at Q2 Stadium.
Fans attending the match are advised to check CapMetro's Austin FC page for transit options, including increased bus services. More information about the rail shutdown and alternative transportation can be found on CapMetro.org/MetroRail. Customers may also contact the Customer Service GO Line at 512-474-1200 or use digital resources like the CapMetro App and MetroAlerts for updates.
The maintenance work includes drainage improvements, joint elimination welding, surfacing completion, and replacement of steel ties. Traffic disruptions are expected on Lamar Boulevard during July 10-11 and Howard Lane from July 16-18.
Normal MetroRail service is set to resume on July 19.
