A detailed plan for Austin ISD's Proposition A compensation has been released, revealing that 85% of the district's regular, benefits-eligible staff could see pay increases if voters approve the measure. The proposal outlines various increments for different categories of employees.

For teachers and librarians, average pay increases range from 1.4% to 7.3%, based on their years of experience. Classified staff, which includes custodians and maintenance workers, are set to receive a $0.25 per hour raise. Speech Language Pathologists and related services personnel will see an average increase of 10%, while counselors are expected to receive a 12% pay bump.

Proposition A funding is intended to provide market adjustments across district pay scales. Eligible staff members will receive individual raises based on their position and years of service compared to others in their pay grade. Those already earning market value for their position will not receive adjustments.

The district plans to implement any approved increases or incentive payments by mid-December, retroactive to the start date in 2024. If Proposition A is not passed, all active full-time employees would instead receive a one-time $500 incentive payment.

In May 2024, efforts were made to draft a compensation agreement contingent on the passage of Proposition A. This funding would allow the district not only to maintain the pay raises given in 2023 but also increase salaries for most employees.

The release of these details aims to inform both staff and voters about how Proposition A funds would be allocated should it pass.
