Hispanic Heritage Talent Show winners announced by Austin ISD

The recent Join the Fiesta Hispanic Heritage Talent Show celebrated talent, creativity, and culture from students and staff across Austin ISD. The event featured captivating performances and stunning art, honoring the richness of Hispanic heritage.

Winners were announced in various categories:

In the Social Media Winners category, Lamar Middle School Guitar's group performance of "La Cumparsita," directed by David Conger, was recognized. Tomás Montes from Mathews Elementary School won for his artwork "The Countries of America." Guadalupe Ramos Sanchez from Widén Elementary School impressed with the dance "¿Qué le pasa a Lupita?" Mia Puente from Allison Elementary School was acknowledged for her singing of "De Colores." The music category was won by Aura Toledano Paredes and Audrey Laphen from Lamar Middle School with their rendition of "La Llorona." Lastly, the Austin ISD Multilingual Education Department took home an award for their staff performance titled "Life is a Carnival."

Judges' Selection Winners included Samantha Cruz from Covington Middle School for her art piece "Instrumentos." Grupo Ilusión Modesta under Mark Vigil at Navarro Early College High School received recognition for their class performance of "Tal Vez." Daniel Nichols from Lamar Middle School won in the dance category with "El Caimán," while Cassius Walker also from Lamar Middle School earned accolades in music with "Guárdame las Vacas." Sofia Moreno from McCallum High School excelled in singing with her performance of "Costumbres."
