The Barton Hills Choir, a youth choir from Austin, Texas, is led by Gavin Tabone. Known for their performances of music by the Grateful Dead and other classic rock artists, the choir is supported by professional musicians such as guitarist Don “El Cento” Cento, bassist Aaron “Hair Doctor” Dembe, and drummer Jake “Mr. Bubbles” Perlman.
Their diverse repertoire includes classics from the Beatles, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Grateful Dead, and Beach Boys. They also perform songs from contemporary bands like Wilco, Muse, The Flaming Lips, Foo Fighters, and Belle and Sebastian. The choir regularly performs at the Austin City Limits Music Festival and has taken their shows to cities including New York, Chicago, Denver, Portland (Maine), and Dallas.
The Barton Hills Choir has shared stages with notable musicians such as Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian, singer Nakia, guitar legend Charlie Sexton, and The Flaming Lips. Additionally, they accompanied Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters during his performance of ‘The Wall’ at the Frank Erwin Center.
