Austin Youth Fitness is set to host a series of youth fitness classes at the upcoming Fall Fitness Festival on September 19, 2024. The event will feature various activities aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being among children.
The schedule begins at 10:00 AM with Kids Yoga, which introduces young participants to yoga and meditation. "Young athletes also learn that stretching is important to their other fitness endeavors, and mindfulness exercises are important to their mental health and 'feeling good overall,'" states Austin Youth Fitness (AYF). The class aims to help children grow strong in body, mind, and spirit.
At 10:45 AM, Kula Karate will conduct Training for Young Ninjas. This session focuses on developing physical strength, speed, confidence, concentration, and emotional regulation through martial arts training. According to Kula Karate, "Our successful formula of self-discipline, hard work, and fun will inspire your child to set goals and persevere to reach them."
Fit ‘n Fun Running Skills, Drills, and Games will follow at 11:30 AM. AYF emphasizes proper form along with the fundamentals of pacing, strength, agility, speed, and endurance in this session. The organization highlights that they make fitness enjoyable with games and activities focused on play.
At 12:15 PM comes Youth Biking: Intro to Cycling on Urban Trails. This class aims to teach biking as both a developmental skill and a life skill. Participants will learn about biking safety and the rules of the road while exploring new routes in their neighborhoods.
The final youth session at 1:00 PM is Beginner Biking: Learn to Ride. Targeted at Pre-K to third graders who are learning to ride independently, this class helps kids transition from training wheels or balance bikes to pedaling on two wheels.
For those without a bike of their own, AYF has partnered with Woom Bikes to offer demo bikes during the festival. Interested parties can email info@austinyouthfitness for more information.
Additional adult fitness classes will also be available during the festival.
