APD seeks suspects in home break-in resulting in shooting

On Monday, September 9, 2024, at approximately 10:24 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a shots fired call in the 5300 block of Jimmy Clay Drive. APD officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (A/TCEMS) arrived at the scene and located a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives responded and processed the scene. Their investigation revealed that a suspect knocked on the victim’s door. Later, a second suspect broke into the victim’s apartment, and as he entered, the victim fired several gunshots towards the second suspect. The second suspect, who was armed, also shot and injured a victim inside the residence before leaving the scene, possibly in a white car.
