Amy LaVere is a distinguished artist whose work has been recognized for its originality and timeless quality. LaVere's album ‘Painting Blue’ (2019) received high praise, with Mojo Magazine awarding it 4 out of 4 stars. The album was produced by her husband, Will Sexton, who captured the essence of her storytelling.
Known for her captivating live performances, LaVere has performed at various notable venues and festivals, including St. Andrew’s Hall in London and Bonnaroo. She began her music career in Detroit before moving to Memphis in 1999, where she became an active participant in the local music scene.
Her discography includes several critically acclaimed albums such as ‘Anchors & Anvils’ (2007), ‘Stranger Me’ (2011), ‘Runaway’s Diary’ (2014), and ‘Hallelujah I’m A Dreamer’ (2015). In addition to her solo work, she has collaborated with artists like Luther Dickinson and Todd Snider.
Will Sexton, born in San Antonio and raised in Austin, moved to Memphis in 2013 after marrying Amy LaVere. He has established himself as a versatile musician involved in writing, producing, session playing, and performing solo. His latest release, ‘Don’t Walk The Darkness,’ showcases influences from Americana, gospel, blues, and Tex-Mex romance.
Sexton plays a pivotal role at producer Bruce Watson’s Delta-Sonic Sound studio and is associated with the Fat Possum-distributed Big Legal Mess label.
