Invesco leadership honors passing of 'true visionary' Denis Kessler

Global independent investment management firm Invesco announced that its longtime non-executive director and board member Denis Kessler passed away at the age of 71.

“Denis was a true visionary whose outstanding commitment and leadership will be deeply missed, not just at Invesco but across the business world,” Invesco President and CEO Marty Flanagan said in a June 9 press release.

Kessler, a French businessman and economist, was the non-executive director since 2002 and was also a member of the Nomination and Corporate Governance Committee and Compensation Committee. 

In 2002, he joined SCOR as the chairman and chief executive officer and helped the company become one of the world’s top reinsurers. Kessler became the non-executive chairman in 2021. Prior to his time with SCOR, he held several esteemed positions including chairman of the French Federation of Insurance Companies, as well as the senior executive vice president and executive committee member of AXA.

“Denis was a truly special person and an extraordinary leader who will be greatly missed by all of us at Invesco," said G. Richard Wagoner Jr., chair of the Invesco Ltd. Board of Directors, according the Invesco press release. "He was a world-renowned leader in the insurance and reinsurance industry, and we were fortunate to benefit from his thoughtful guidance and counsel as a non-executive director of Invesco for two decades.”

According to the release, Invesco consists of more than 8,400 employees worldwide and has offices in more than 20 countries. The company has managed $1.5 trillion in assets from all around the world as of March 31.
