Gov. Greg Abbott is slated to participate in a panel discussion with his counterparts, Govs. J. Kevin Stitt (R-OK) and Mark Gordon (R-WY), at the NAPE Summit Energy Business Conference on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB) in Houston, according to a press release.

The 2023 NAPE Summit Governors Panel is part of NAPE Week, which runs through Sunday, Feb. 3, the release said.

Event organizers said that the 2023 NAPE Summit Governors Panel will have Abbott, Stitt and Gordon talk about the present state of the energy market.

NAPE Operators Committee chair David R. Cape said in the release the governors are just three of “one of the best [speaker lineups] we’ve ever assembled.”

According to Cape, the expo will also feature “three company chief executive officers (CEO) and founders, two market intelligence experts and three featured technical presentations,” as well as a senior investment manager from a public pension fund and an energy investment bank president.

NAPE added that the event will celebrate its 30th anniversary, per the release.

“We are celebrating the big deal – NAPE style,” NAPE vice president Le’Ann Callihan said in the release.

Callihan said the summit has other new additions such as a 1990s themed concert at its icebreaker reception, a Bitcoin mining pavilion and the NAPE Hall of Fame.

NAPE said the governors it enlisted to speak are fresh from successful reelection campaigns.

Among them, Abbott will be sworn to his third term in Texas’ highest office on Tuesday.

First elected Texas governor in 2014 and reelected in 2018, Abbott defeated Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke in the most recent general election two months ago.
