Miramar, Florida-based Spirit Airlines will debut Austin-Monterrey, Mexico (MTY) service in June.

Austin ABC affiliate KVUE reported that Spirit's flights between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Monterrey International Airport will commence on June 22.

The airline additionally said that it'll also begin flying from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport to MTY on the same day, according to a company issued press release.

“We’re excited about growing our international service from Texas with new daily nonservice from Austin (AUS) and Houston (IAH) to Monterrey, Mexico," Spirit Vice President of Network Planning John Kirby said, according to Austin ABC affiliate KVUE. "Whether traveling for leisure or to visit friends and relatives, Spirit Airlines continues to provide our Guests with More Go.”

Spirit, which said in the release that it'll fly the only nonstop flight between Austin and Monterrey, is among a slew of airlines that will premiere or resume international flights out of AUS.

Last month, American said that Central Texans can fly from AUS to Cozumel, Mexico and Montego Bay, Jamaica starting on June 11.

Germany's flagship airline, Lufthansa, will resume flights between AUS and Frankfurt Airport on April 8.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines introduced service to and from Amsterdam that’s slated to commence in the spring while British Airways has been flying between the Texas state capital and London Heathrow since last October.

Austin NBC affiliate KXAN reported that Denver-based Frontier Airlines in February purchased Spirit in a deal worth almost $7 billion.
