Spots still remain for volunteers in next month's "It's My Park Day," Austin Parks Foundation's annual event to show the city's parks a little love.

"Is helping local parks on your fall to-do list?" Austin Parks Foundation asked in a Friday, Oct. 15 Twitter post. "Join us for It's My Park Day on Saturday, Nov. 6 presented by @AMD! Volunteer projects are taking place all over Austin, so there's sure to be an opportunity near you."

The annual city-wide volunteering event brings together anyone, including kids, willing to put in some sweat equity to improve Austin's abundant parks and green areas. This year's event will include a week of activities. The foundation plans 75 in-person volunteer projects and an unlimited number of virtual slots open throughout the event.

"It's My Park Day Fall 2021" is much like last year's event in that COVID safety protocols will be observed.

"While the COVID-19 pandemic has presented major challenges to our volunteer events, we're thrilled with the success of IMPD - At A Distance in Fall 2020 and our hybrid event in Spring 2021!" the foundation says on its website.

All volunteers will be required to mask up and even projects will be capped at 25 volunteers.

Virtual activities also will be available. Those who register for the virtual events are to check their email inboxes the morning of the event for a list of "It's My Park Day" activities. Those who complete at least five items on the list will receive a "It’s My Park Day" shirt designed by local artists Kendrick Rudolph and Genevieve Bentz.

Participants also may earn a shirt by making a donation and participating in in-person events. In-person volunteers will each receive a shirt on the first day of the event.

Volunteers may participate in in-person and virtual events but will receive only one IMPD shirt "It’s My Park Day" shirt.

Anyone who would like to register may do so through GivePulse here.
