City of Austin City Council Met May 17.

The City Council of Austin, Texas, convened in a special called meeting via Videoconference. 

Mayor Adler called the Council Meeting to order at 1:07 p.m. Mayor Pro Tem Harper-Madison, Council Member's Casar, Renteria were absent. 

DISCUSSION 

1. Discussion regarding City operations, response, and future actions as described in Resolution No. 20210325-067 related to the February 2021 Winter Storm event (Winter Storm Uri). 

Presentations were conducted as follows: 

Sheltering -Juan Ortiz, HSEM Director, Stephanie Hayden-Howard, ACM Austin Energy -Jackie Sargent, General Manager, Austin Energy 

Austin Water Utility -Greg Meszaros, Director, Austin Water Irtility 

Direction was given to staff to gather information on community sourced sheltering, to get a better picture of what was happening outside of the city and what lessons we learned from that, both appreciative of that action, of volunteers stepping in, but how do we best assist that or redirect that or facilitate. To include the results ofthe Commission on Seniors analysis in the after-action report. Research ways to implement a process to reach out to seniors living in the community. How do we fund situations outside of our system? What are funding options for future resilience HUBS. 

Mayor Adler adjourned the Council Meeting at 3:51 pm without objection. 

The minutes were approved on this the 3rd day of June 2021 on Mayor Adler's motion, on a 10-0 vote. Council Member Kelly was absent.
