    On Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 5:39 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a collision between a sports-utility vehicle and a pickup truck in the 12000 Block of North Mopac Expressway southbound. Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.

In response, Austin’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) is organizing an Emergency Preparedness Pop-Up event at the Yarborough Branch Library on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. This initiative is part of a monthly series held in each City Council District throughout the year on the third Wednesday of each month.


  • Austin police investigate homicide after fatal stabbing on Grayledge Drive

    On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 4:02 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a report of a stabbing in a residence located in the 8200 block of Grayledge Drive. The caller stated that someone had been stabbed and that a subject had fled from the residence. Officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (A/TCEMS) arrived on the scene and located the body of a male, later identified as Edgar Yudiel Granados. Granados was pronounced deceased on site.


  • Austin police investigate murder-suicide in city's 31st homicide of 2024

    On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at approximately 10:16 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call of a stabbing at 4411 Airport Boulevard. A caller reported that two people were dead. Officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (A/TCEMS) arrived on the scene and located the body of a female inside the residence who was later identified as Iris Hernandez-Perdomo.   • Motorcyclist dies after crash at East 45th and Duval Streets

    On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 11:09 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash involving a single motorcycle at the intersection of East 45th Street and Duval Street. The motorcyclist, Gordon Yang, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased on July 12, 2024.
