  • Pedestrian fatally struck by two vehicles on East US 290 Highway

    On Saturday, May 25, at approximately 3:22 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian in the 9500 block of the East US 290 Highway Eastbound Service Road. The unidentified pedestrian was attempting to cross the service road when they were struck by both vehicles. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

  • Austin Police seek public's help in identifying Cricket Wireless robbery suspect

    On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Austin Police responded to an aggravated robbery at the Cricket Wireless store located at 529 West Oltorf Street. The suspect, captured on surveillance video, pointed a handgun at the employee and demanded cash. After obtaining money from the register, the suspect fled on foot toward Gillis Neighborhood Park at 2410 Durwood Street. Detectives interviewed witnesses, gathered evidence, and initiated an investigation.

  • Austin police seek suspect in hit-and-run crashes causing serious injuries

    On Monday, March 18, 2024, at approximately 1:46 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to reports of a crash in the 8400 block of N IH 35 SB. Preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect vehicle crashed into the rear of a victim’s sedan as they were traveling southbound on the 100 block of N IH 35 SB. The victim followed the suspect vehicle, and at some point, the suspect vehicle crashed into the rear of a motorcyclist that was traveling southbound on the 8400 block of N IH 35 SB. The suspect vehicle did not stop and left the area at high speed.


  • Austin police investigate fatal shooting on Blue Goose Road

    On Friday, May 17, 2024, at approximately 2:18 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to multiple calls of a shooting at 8110 Blue Goose Rd. The victim vehicle was one of the callers and stated they had driven to the nearby Waffle House at 8800 E US 290 Hwy. Officers and Austin-Travis County EMS (A/TCEMS) arrived at the Waffle House and found that the back passenger of the vehicle had been shot.   • Fatal traffic accident claims life of juvenile driver in Austin

    On Friday, May 17, at approximately 1:31 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single-vehicle crash at FM 969 Road and the Ed Bluestein Boulevard NB Service Road. One adult and four juveniles, including the driver, were traveling in the vehicle. The juvenile driver, Syniah Norvell, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on Sunday, May 19, 2024. The four other passengers were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
