Whitney Cummings, a comedian, actor, writer, producer, and director based in Los Angeles, is widely recognized for her work on the NBC series “Whitney” and the Emmy-nominated CBS comedy “2 Broke Girls,” which she co-created with Michael Patrick King. In November this year, Cummings launched her podcast “Good For You,” featuring discussions with various guests. The podcast is self-produced by Cummings along with Made By Super and is recorded in Los Angeles. New episodes are released every Wednesday.
Cummings’ fourth stand-up special, “Can I Touch It?” premiered on Netflix on July 30th. The special showcases her commentary on gender dynamics and includes topics like sex robots. It was filmed at Sidney Harmon Hall in Washington, DC.
Looking ahead, Cummings will star in and executive produce a new half-hour comedy for Amazon titled “Good People,” which she co-created with Lee Daniels. The show focuses on three generations of women working in a college ombudsman’s office as they navigate cultural issues related to feminism, race, class, and gender.
In October 2017, Cummings published her novel “I’m Fine…And Other Lies,” which discusses her experiences with anxiety and codependency disorder. That same year marked her directorial debut with the film adaptation of Louann Brizendine’s book “The Female Brain.” In addition to directing and co-writing the film, she starred alongside Sofia Vergara and others. The film explores brain chemistry among couples at different relationship stages.
Cummings has appeared in films such as “Unforgettable” for Warner Bros., “The Wedding Ringer,” “Made of Honor,” and “The Ridiculous Six.” Her television appearances include roles in series like “Undateable,” “Workaholics,” “Maron,” and Comedy Central Roasts.
Her first one-hour stand-up special was “Money Shot,” released on Comedy Central in August 2010. It received an American Comedy Award nomination. Her subsequent specials include “Whitney Cummings: I Love You” (2014) and “I’m Your Girlfriend” (2016).
