Major League Soccer has opened the voting process for the 2025 MLS All-Star Game, which will take place at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. The event will feature a match between MLS All-Stars and a team of All-Stars from Mexico’s LIGA MX on July 23 at 8 p.m. CT.
Voting involves fans, players, and media, with each group contributing one-third to the selection of 12 players out of the total 26. “12 players will be determined by a vote of MLS fans, players, and media,” according to the announcement. Additionally, “12 players will be selected by MLS All-Star head coach Nico Estévez of the host club, Austin FC,” while “two players will be selected by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.”
The voting is structured around selecting players in a 4-1-2-3 formation: one goalkeeper, one right back, two center backs, one left back, one defensive midfielder, two attacking midfielders, and three forwards/wingers. The top vote-getters in each position will become All-Stars.
To qualify for the ballot, players must have participated in at least half of their club’s matches this season as of May 19. Those not qualifying can still be chosen by either Coach Estévez or Commissioner Garber.
Fans also have the opportunity to nominate an All-Star captain through a separate vote sponsored by Captain Morgan. This opens on July 3.
Fan voting is open from May 28 at noon ET until June 11 at 11:59 p.m. ET on mlssoccer.com/vote. Media members covering MLS are also involved in the selection process.
Tickets for both the game and associated events are available for purchase online. The match will be broadcast live on Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass in multiple languages across more than 100 countries.
