By virtue of just being 10 miles away from Dell Diamond in Round Rock, the Georgetown Eagles baseball team have the benefit of home-field advantage. It’s the third time in their history the Eagles punched their ticket to the state tournament, Austin NBC affiliate KXAN reported.

They’ll face the Frisco Wakeland Wolverines in the state semifinals, which begin on Thursday (June 9) at 7 p.m.
According to Eagles skipper Jordan Vierra, KXAN reported, his players are prepared for the role of being the de facto home team.
“I think they’re more than capable of handling that,” Vierra said, according to the station. “I think they’re excited about it. You hear them talking in the clubhouse and you have the conversations about what that’s going to be like.”
The Eagles hope their offensive firepower and pitching prowess guide them toward to the ultimate prize, the 2022 Class 5A State Championship.
According to KXAN, a win over Wakeland sends Georgetown to the title game on Saturday (June 11) at noon.
The baseball team’s state appearance follows that of the Eagles softball team, the station reported.
Georgetown fell to the undefeated Lake Creek Lions 7-0 in the state championship game last Saturday (June 4).
