The University of Texas (UT) Longhorns are poised to take on the University of Washington (UW) Huskies in a pivotal match that could secure them a spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship. The last time the Longhorns found themselves in such a promising position was over a decade ago, which also marked the beginning of the University of Alabama’s dynasty.

The importance of this game is not lost on either the Longhorns or their head coach, Steve Sarkisian. Interestingly, Sarkisian has previously coached for the Huskies. According to ESPN, UT views this match as an opportunity for redemption, particularly since UW defeated them in 2022.

Longhorns defender Barryn Sorrell reflected on this sentiment, stating: “It’s for all the guys that were here during that 5-7 year. We took some very tough losses and we took some very tough criticism behind it as well, so taking those moments and using it as fuel to get these wins.”

Sports Illustrated reported potential challenges for UT as they face UW without one of their key players. Wide receiver Xavier Worthy may be sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained earlier in the season. Despite not being fully recovered, Worthy has expressed his determination to participate in the game.

If UT manages to overcome UW, they will face either Michigan or Alabama for college football’s ultimate title a week later.
