The University of Texas at Austin has climbed to No. 7 among public universities in the latest U.S. News & World Report undergraduate rankings, maintaining its position as the top public university in Texas. The institution also rose to No. 30 overall among both public and private universities.
“As I remarked in my State of the University address last week, this is an extraordinary time for The University of Texas, in part because of our breadth and depth,” said UT President Jay Hartzell. “We use our strengths to prepare adaptable, skilled students, and to collaborate on solutions to society’s biggest challenges. The opportunities we offer students and the extraordinary talent among our faculty are reflected in top 10 rankings across 26 undergraduate programs. Given all of this, it is no surprise that demand to be a Longhorn is at an all-time high.”
UT remains the best university in Texas for veterans and has risen to No. 14 nationally in this category. Additionally, it ranked No. 1 in Texas and No. 19 nationally for innovation and placed No. 4 for study abroad among public universities.
The McCombs School of Business achieved a national ranking of No. 6, with twelve specialties within the school ranking in the top ten, including the top-ranked accounting program. The Cockrell School of Engineering rose to No. 10 nationally with eight specialties ranking in the top ten as well. The computer science program also climbed to No. 10 nationally with three specialties making it into the top ten.
In total, twenty-six UT undergraduate programs secured spots in the top ten this year, increasing the number of ranked undergraduate and graduate programs presently ranked in the top ten to seventy-six.
