Austin’s largest locally owned financial institution, University Federal Credit Union (UFCU), revealed the promotion of Jason Qunell on Aug. 9 to the newly established role of associate vice president of business banking, according to a press release. With nearly three decades of experience in commercial real estate and finance, including roles at Wells Fargo and Capital One, Qunell brings his eight-year tenure at UFCU to the position.

Assuming his newly expanded role at UFCU, Qunell will take on the responsibility of overseeing and guiding the continuous growth and expansion of the business banking function within the institution. His primary aim is to create a sustainable and profitable business unit that centers its efforts on serving the needs of small business members throughout the entirety of Texas.

“Austin and Central Texas are driven by small businesses and the spirit of entrepreneurship as they continue to dream and create jobs,” said UFCU Executive Vice President of Member Experience Chris Turnley. “At UFCU, we are continuing to build solutions so that small businesses have a true financial partner. Jason is the perfect person to lead this effort.”
