The Travis County Commissioners Court has approved the creation of a 21-member Community Advisory Council (CAC). This council will advise Health and Human Services staff on the design and implementation of the Voter Approved Child Care and Out of School Fund, which was approved by voters on November 5, 2024.

The court is seeking community members with personal or professional expertise related to child care and out-of-school time services to serve on the CAC. Categories for community members include parents/caregivers, child care or out-of-school time providers, youth aged 18-24, and at-large representatives with relevant expertise. Interested individuals can apply through an online form available in English and Spanish. Applicants must reside in Travis County.

Organizations interested in nominating a staff member to represent them can also apply online. Eligible categories include school districts, businesses or business coalitions, institutes of higher education, system conveners of child care or out-of-school time programs, grassroots community-based organizations, Head Start contractors, City of Austin representatives, and local workforce boards.

Applications are due by Monday, August 4, 2025 at 5:00 PM CST. Questions can be directed to ChildcareandOST@traviscountytx.gov.
