Travis County is organizing a virtual community conversation to discuss mental health diversion initiatives, including updates on the Crisis Care Diversion Pilot and the Mental Health Diversion Center. The event will take place on May 9, 2024, from 12 pm to 1:30 pm CST via Zoom.

Participants will hear directly from county staff about upcoming opportunities to influence and inform the design and planning of the Mental Health Diversion Center. The agenda includes updates from county staff, small group discussions, and large group discussions. Feedback and questions are encouraged.

The session will be conducted in English with Spanish and ASL interpretation available. Participants needing other language accommodations should indicate their preferences in the registration form by April 23, 2024.

The Travis County Innovative Justice and Program Analysis team will host this free event. Those interested can register online for participation.

For those preferring an in-person experience, a separate session is scheduled for May 7 at the Asian American Resource Center in Austin, Texas.

This initiative follows the Travis County Commissioners Court’s unanimous approval of a resolution for developing a behavioral health diversion center.
